Landscaping by the Village Garden Center

Photo May 17Jeff Flint and the crew at the Village Garden Center have been working around the clock to get the Southern Living Showcase Home ready for Open House. For more than 40 years, this family-owned business has built a solid reputation as a full-service garden center and landscape company.

Flint says, “The Village Garden Center offers services for all types of landscape needs, from recreational gardeners shopping in our retail center to large commercial clients using our expert landscape architecture services.” They are located in Fishersville and are in the process of building a new retail center which will expand their offerings and make it possible to assist even more customers.

The landscape department offers a complete service including designs, grading, plant material and hardscape installation (patios, walkways, retaining walls etc), night lighting, water features and professional hydro seeding. Their gardens can be found in publications including Southern Living Magazine, Southern Accents, and The English Gardener.

Robertson Electric started in 1968 as a one-man company. Two years later, Bill Robertson added heating and air conditioning and in 1985, plumbing was part of the service. Since 1994, Bruce Locker has been the President of the company, having worked alongside Bill since 1977.

Now, with nearly 50 local employees, Robertson continues to expand its customer base while servicing many of the customers they started with 42 years ago. “We pride ourselves on being able to provide service within a two-hour time frame,” Bruce said. “We know that our clients’ time is valuable and we honor that time by keeping our appointments timely.”

Robertson Electric provided the heating and air conditioning work on the Showcase Home. They would be glad to give you an estimate on any services you need. The Carpet House — Outfitting the Floors of the Southern Living Showcase Home

The Carpet House began when Douglas Simms Sr. and wife Lois opened a storefront carpet business in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1973.  Photo May 17Since then, The Carpet House has expanded to include the Carpet House in Culpeper, Virginia as well as Simms Furniture which is adjacent in Fredericksburg.

The Carpet House offers the largest selection of carpeting, tile, laminate, hardwood, area rugs and more; and, because they do offer such a large selection, they pride themselves on having the most competitive pricing in the area.  “We have a knowledgeable and courteous sales team and installers who are professionals, skilled at their craft,” says Lois Simms, co-owner.
